The propane space heaters can also be classified based on the presence of vent in them as Vented or Unvented. Vented heaters are designed in such a way that they are located permanently outside the wall in order to facilitate the installation of the flue gas vent directly through the wall. They are high capacity space heaters. In general, vented propane space heaters are safe for bedrooms, bathrooms, etc as they provide proper ventilation for the dangerous flue gases to escape out. This prevents suffocation inside the room where the heater is used. The unvented propane space heaters on the other hand do not have any vent to let the flue gases out of the room. We must not install the unvented propane space heaters for air tight houses, mobile houses under any circumstances as the may lead to suffocation of people due to the accumulation of treacherous gases and by products within the concerned room. So these unvented propane space heaters are highly preferred for rooms which have natural ventilation and regular circulation of natural air. Thus they are highly advisable to be used in living rooms, where naturally there is a good ventilation facility.

The propane space heaters are advantageous in the fact that they do not need any electricity to perform the heating purpose. Thus they are of a great deal even during electric outages or failures.
